At The Chefness Group, we are a team of dedicated professionals led by Jason Bass, whose extensive expertise in school nutrition, senior dining, culinary innovation, and operational excellence shapes everything we do. Alongside him are three other owners, each bringing their unique experience and perspective. Together, we work collaboratively to elevate dining programs through fresh, made-from-scratch meals that nourish and inspire

The Chefness Group was founded by four owners, each from different walks of life, united by a shared belief: food service is more than just serving meals—it’s a calling to serve our communities. We believe food is medicine, that true leadership is rooted in humility, and that rigid systems should be transformed into meaningful dining experiences that nourish both body and soul.

Our journey began decades ago, forged through both personal and professional battles. It is shaped by the diverse experiences of each owner, who brings a unique perspective to The Chefness Group. Together, we form a team capable of assisting your program from every intersection point, offering a broad range of expertise and insights.

As a minority, female, and veteran-owned business, we’ve learned that storms don’t break you—they birth you. Each of us brings a unique piece of this journey, and together, we are committed to transforming food service with Freshness, Care & Purpose. We ensure long-term success through balance, integrity, and mindfulness, always putting people and purpose at the center of everything we do.

Our Founders

The Chefness Group is powered by a dynamic team of professionals with over 100 years of combined experience across food service, finance, education, wellness, and hospitality. Each founding member brings a unique lens shaped by their personal journey—creating a collective expertise that allows us to serve programs of any size with confidence, compassion, and integrity.

One founder brings a deep-rooted background in hospitality and guest experience, shaping environments where food is not just served, but celebrated.

Another’s foundation is in organizational systems and financial oversight, ensuring that every program we build is as fiscally sound as it is nourishing.

Our third partner brings a personal journey of resilience and renewal, channeling the healing power of food and cultural heritage to promote wellness, balance, and intentional service.

And finally, our fourth founder offers a global perspective, rooted in service and shaped by international experiences that underscore food’s role in uniting communities and telling stories across cultures.

Together, we blend strategy, heart, and hands-on experience to deliver food service solutions that are as sustainable as they are inspiring—tailored to meet the diverse needs of public and private schools, senior dining programs, long-term care facilities, and residential dining operations.

Leading our mission is Jason Bass, our Lead Director and Brand Ambassador. Jason represents the voice and vision of The Chefness Group in the field—bringing energy, clarity, and leadership to every partnership. His ability to connect with teams, inspire innovation, and ensure quality across the board makes him an integral part of our success.

At The Chefness Group, we believe in building programs that reflect the people they serve—nutritious, inclusive, culturally relevant, and deeply rooted in community.
